I called K&K Sound today and asked Christy about their Pure Classic transducer system for classical guitar. My buddy Leland had recommended K&K for my Yamaha CG-100A. Christy told me the Pure Classic has an extra transducer to accomodate for a classical’s fan bracing. Leland and I will take a look at my guitars innards tomorrow. If […]
Block party where I’m staying right now in Santa Monica. Live cover band, drinks, table tennis. Folks asked me to go up and play. My voice is still hoarse though so I had a good excuse to just have some drinks and wish I could hop in the party jumpers.
I’ve just downloaded the new release […]
From Jillian:
Here are some updated shots of the leather-covered guitar project…
Strung my classical with Augustine strings, Blue basses with Imperial trebles. The low-mids really boom and the trebles are warm and not too bright. Perfect. Louder than what I was using before. Augustine does not specify tension on their strings which forces you to listen without bias. And makes you go online to see what they’re about.
Tried hard to learn […]
About a year ago my pal Phil Hurley bought me a really nice Yamaha CG-100A classical guitar. Yamaha recycles its serial numbers every ten years so I have no idea how old it is. Before that I hadn’t owned a six string acoustic, steel or nylon string. I’ve been able to approach this guitar differently because […]
It’s so dry I’ve woken up with chapped lips and a pretty dry throat. I don’t have any little humidifiers so I took my Yamaha classical and 12-string into the bathroom with me while I showered. That should help a bit. I should get a pickup put in my classical. The sky at 1pm looked […]

I’ve finally sat down at a computer since our show Saturday night. The Mint was action packed. Not that I could tell with those bright stage lights. I was so nervous a couple of Jacks in the green room didn’t calm me down. A really good pedal steel player complimented me on my guitar tone - thanks Keeley […]
Four hours until our big show tonight at the Mint. Harry Dean Stanton is on after us. I’ve just restrung my Tele with D’Addario EJ 17s which I bought in bulk before the tour. My buddy Leland was too kind and polished my frets for me. They sparkle. I should have polished my boots too. Maybe I’ll […]
Twenty four hours until our big show tomorrow night. I’m feeling a tad under the weather so I’m watching The Great Khali manhandle Kane on WWE Friday Night Smackdown.
I received a letter from my pops today. I hadn’t been back home in almost two years until we stopped there on tour. After the tour I couldn’t […]
