501 Blues
My Keeley Compressor is here. My very own. I’m also going to try BBE’s Soul Vibe at rehearsal today. It’s a rich, lush phasey/rotary speaker sound that I’d like to try in “First person,” “Six white horses,” and a few other songs. If I get it I’m totally removing the heinous “Lady’s Man” character BBE painted on this pedal. And that’s more funk than soul if you ask me. Now a Neo-soul Vibe, that would be something. Here’s a demo of it in action - that’s someone else playing.
I picked my first pair of Levi 501’s at Rufcut on Pico. My favorite pair of Lucky Brand ripped in the crotch. The guys bought me a pair from Club Monaco while we were touring through DC on my birthday. They also exploded in the crotch and I’m getting them tailored. Call me Tom Jones I guess. I’m going to try my hand with this pair of 10 year old Levi’s. Turns out Robert the shopkeep is a guitar player and my buddy Leland installed a Fishman pickup in his Santa Cruz Tony Rice. Lucky guy to have that guitar. He wants to get a good acoustic amp to go with the Fishman. I recommended he try Schertler’s David and AER’s Compact 60 acoustic amps.
I guess I’m 29 in the waist, all my others have been 28. I’ve got to slow down on McDonald’s Angus burgers.
