CG-100A

The nicest Yamaha classical I’ve played. Yamaha makes good classicals, but this is my favorite.

About a year ago my pal Phil Hurley bought me a really nice Yamaha CG-100A classical guitar.  Yamaha recycles its serial numbers every ten years so I have no idea how old it is.  Before that I hadn’t owned a six string acoustic, steel or nylon string.  I’ve been able to approach this guitar differently because its tone makes me want to fingerpick more.

So today I placed my acoustics outside of the shower to humidify them a bit since southern California is extremely dry right now. I got to use my friend Jillian’s Olive and Oats organic soap too.  So I played the classical for a bit and thought playing it live full time could be really interesting.  The texture and percussive tone of a classical could be fun to try with Anks. And it would bring out my voice.  Which is still worn out so today it would sound like Gispy Kings. You know, my first experience with Gipsy Kings was in my freshmen year at Cornell.  This pretty Mexican girl named Dianne came and picked me up in her BMW. Now I’m a kid from Silver Creek who had never been in a nice ride like this until then.  She took me to her dorm room where she had candles lit playing “Djobi Djoba” on her stereo.  She was a smooth operator.
