I came from Alabama with a banjo on my knee*

So I’ve learned a handful of banjo chords.   I learned a few mandolin chords and survived an adequate rendition of “We wish you a merry Christmas.”  The banjo is much more fun.  I cut my teeth on an Epiphone Masterbuilt MB-500 and tortured those around me learning “Oh Susanna.”  And then right to “Freebird.”

The LA Times has a neat slideshow about one of my favorite venues to play in Los Angeles, The Troubadour.

My pal Leland came to our Myspace gig last week.  I gigged with my new Keeley BD-2 Blues Driver Mod and asked him how it sounded.   He said it sounded more like a Bassman than my usual cranked Concert tone.  Which worked with the new songs really well.

*I was born in Alabama. The banjo came later though.
