Old Grey Whistle Test

Cinefile has three volumes of the Old Grey Whistle Test performances. The show’s Dire Strait’s performance of “Sultans of Swing” is one of the greatest tv performance I’ve ever seen. If you can, stop what your doing and watch these two minutes of Bill Withers and company.

A Matrix

Anks posted a table of our recording progress on his blog.
Yesterday I forgot to actually mention Dan’s work. Here’s an older Arcade Fire concert poster he did after I left Cornell.
Some of his work is up at GigPosters as well.

Runnin’ Down A Dream

I’ve just got a copy of the new Tom Petty doc Runnin’ Down a Dream.  My college roommate Dan Knapp does concert posters for touring bands over in Philly.  He bought a Rickenbacker 360 in fireglo when we lived in Ithaca.  It was pretty nice.
Colin’s just told us that we’ve been invited to play a […]

Born in the U.S.A

My friend Mike Phirman of the musical comedy duo Hard ‘N Phirm were just featured on a Comedy Central Presents special. Oddly enough we were playing the Derby the night it aired and I missed it. I’ve seen clips of them preforming on Jimmy Kimmel and they are a riot. If you […]

Take no for an answer

I’m writing a couple of days out from our show at the Derby. We played a short set with new material that may make the new album. The place […]

Roller Derbies

We’re the Main Event this Friday night at The Derby in Los Feliz, CA. I think they still hold swing dancing from the Swingers days of yesteryear.  Notice how the ticket reads 8pm-2am.  This must be the only bar in Los Angeles county that stays open that late.
This will be our first time playing The […]

Lost that loving feeling

I’ve been making a little progress fingerpicking for a couple of months.  Last week I must have pinched a nerve and lost some feeling in my right hand. I’m no doctor but it should take a few weeks or months to heal.  I’m trying to play my way through it.
The folks at Myspace have invited […]

Bodhisattva

KLOS is playing a lot of Steely Dan album cuts today. And for the first time in my life I’m kind of enjoying Steely Dan. You know, I think it started with my idea to write a Van Morrison kind of tune. That led to the smooth shuffle of Toto’s singles and now […]

Hold the line . . .

. . . Toto just kicked your ass and mine.

Leap year of Faith

After some holiday time off we may record some more of our new album in the next month or so.  Adam is going to be in Austin supervising a film soundtrack until then.  Which is good because I have a few new songs I’d like to develop by then.  And it’s our one and only […]
