Our first Hotel Cafe show went super well. The room was plenty crowded. The green room too between the people and Calamity Magnet’s upgright bass. Come to think of it, I was the only male singer on the stage that night. Anywho the club’s monitor mix was four star quality. And the club pays honestly. Again I unplugged myself no more than three times in one set. I may try winding my cable around my strap a few times. Tape on the guitar looks shoddy. Quyen was there taking photos which I can’t wait to see. Her photos from our Troubadour show last year made us look like stars.

My “Born on the Bayou” swamp green tele was sounding nasty! The hot output Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder is tasty.

Our new song “Finding a way home” got the place going with its boogie. “Bloodburner” is turning out to be a real gem in the set. I’ve been relying on older material to close the set. Kyle did me a favor in calling me on that. The same set won’t work in all rooms. I’ve been trying to craft the perfect “LA set” (read: 30 minutes or it’s free) for some time now. I guess I have to write some new, better material. I think the new songs are more fun to play. My dreams came true and Kyle pulled his best Stevie Van Zandt ala “Glory Days” on backup which sounded flawless. Anks looked like a million bucks in his new suit.

I’ve been illing the past two days and after some G chatting it turns out Anks is too. He posed the question, “What happens if you mix Thera Flu with Alka Seltzer?” The answer is immortality. I’ve found an NES emulator and I’ve been making myself feel better by running up the Tecmo Bowl scoreboard with Bo Jackson.

He’s invincible
